How To Use Google Search Console for Content Creators

Google is consistently looking for new ways of being innovative, maximise its ad revenue, and bring more engaging results to users. It’s essential to keep up to date with Google’s changes and innovations in order to best utilize marketing methods.

Lately, Google has revealed Google Search Console Insights. This feature provides Search Console users with more in-depth reporting regarding the performance of a given site and its pages. In particular, examples of features provided by Google Analytics include: information relating to average time spent on pages, referring sites information and the page views. These features are beneficial for marketing specialists in order to understand the way that consumers navigate and use websites.

On Twitter, Google explained that Google insights are, ‘’a way to provide content creators with the data they need to make informed decisions and improve their content’’

How to Access Google Insights

For those who are participating in the closed beta, you can access your Insights at https://search.google.com/search-console/insights/about.

If you cannot access Google Search Console Insights, you shouldn’t stress. Whilst it has been confirmed, Google has revealed that it is ‘’only available to a group of users that have already received an official email from us’’ Overtime, Google will be adding more users and rolling this feature out to countries other than the USA.

What Does the Search Engine Console Insights Tell you?

  1. Which of your content pieces are performing the best.
  2. How are people discovering your content.
  3. Which other sites and articles are linking your sites content and any new ones.
  4. How are your new pieces performing.
  5. What from your site is trending on Google.

The future of Search Console

This feature, if well developed, will help marketers and site owners to understand audiences better. Seeing as this feature is still in the beta phase, it’s up to the testers. If genuine, useful feedback is provided to Google, we could see this feature released.

Ultimately, if Google can roll out new features such as this one, we will see a more in-depth analysis of audience and performance data. From this, content creators can learn a lot about how their content is being received and what improvements need to be made.
